MANTRA LAMPS

MANTRA LAMPS is a group of lamps which, like a sacred mantra, repeats a particular aspect, the numbers of the Fibonacci sequence, resulting in harmonious relationships of solid, void and distance between its elements.   The suspension lamps are created as an increasing number of 'drum' forms - from solo (1) to dyad (2)  to triad (3) to pillar (4) each with a subtle variation in its composition and relationship between the drum and the post.   Available in multiple metal finishes the delicate contrast between a brushed metal and a polished metal is highlighted in the two minimalist elements.  Divine proportions of the golden mean.

THE GOLDEN RATIO

As in nature, so too in poetic euclidean geometry.  A divine proportion.  The Golden Section or Ratio is a ratio or proportion defined by the number Phi (= 1.618033988749895…) It can be derived with a number of geometric constructions, each of which divides a line segment at the unique point where:

A is to B as B is to C.  This occurs only where A is 1.618 … times B and B is 1.618 … times C.

THE GOLDEN SECTION CHAIR

Elegant and masculine, modern and timeless, The Golden Section Chair embodies the revered concept of the Divine Proportion or the ‘Golden Ratio‘.  The Ancient Greek theory of balance, nature, and harmony of relationships has been applied to create historical masterworks such as The Parthenon, The Taj Mahal and the Mona Lisa to name just a few. Additionally, architects of the modern era, such as Le Corbusier, have devoutly utilised the Golden Section to design many of the most iconic pieces of furniture in history.

The chair simultaneously expresses the intellectual grace of Euclidian geometry, the poetic minimalism of Mies Van Der Rohe and the wry wit and observations of Andy Warhol. The boldly scaled emblematic piece positions the sitter slightly back from center within the framework of the divine proportions and creates a realm of personal space in addition to visually punctuating its sculptural poetry.

Similarly the PALACE COLLECTION of casegoods employs the relationships of the golden ratio, creating sublime elegance uncommon to a casegoods group.  The unique blade support system references classic modern architecture, rendering each piece with the character of an edifice itself.

TORQUE COLLECTION

Extraordinary physics and properties of tropical leaves and their anatomy.  Pleating and corrugation, rigidity and pliability, reflection and absorption of light- reinterpreted beauty, materialism  and mechanics of photographic images morph into the extensive TORQUE COLLECTION.   The curve of foliage as it is twisted and torqued by trade winds is seen rendered in stainless steel of the Q3 series of tables as well as leather and velvet of the Torque Chair series, with the finish and materials of the furniture referencing the qualities of light of the tropical leaves and Wilkins' photography.

ITALIAN FUTURISM and THE BOCCIONI COLLECTION

THE BOCCIONI COLLECTION is a series of chairs inspired by the 1913 Italian Futurist sculpture, Umberto Boccioni's  'Unique Forms of Continuity in Space' as well as related motifs of the Futurism movement.  An unbridled sense of optimism, masculinity with grace, unencumbered confidence and stride toward the future.  The spirit and gait of the abstracted figurative sculpture and its angular relationships.  Referencing that unique character in an original and decidedly future pointed collection of solid hardwood chairs.  Rejecting the iron grip of mid-century style on hardwood furniture, the Carlo Lounge Chair, Domenico Chair and Umberto Lounge Chair offer a truly contemporary silhouette- for the future.

Daube’s latest works, WAVEFORMS,  draw the sublime link between sound and form.  Teaming with designer and artist Fortunato the pair have created an extraordinary collection of unique design pieces.  Employing actual sound waves of spoken word, as well as sounds from nature, the artist transforms the two dimensional pattern into its dictated three dimensional form.   The process reveals poetic correlations between the two separate sensory experiences as well beautifully articulated sculptural forms, which are then realized as functional design objects.  His artworks, paintings and sculptures are also available through ART OBJECTIFIED.

THUNDER LAMP

By recording the sounds of nature the artists have collected a vast library of soundwaves from which they generate three dimensional forms of extraordinary beauty.  Thunder Lamp draws the magnificence of the primary crash of thunder at the top and the resonant rumblings as the eye moves down the piece. At its midpoint an additional crack of distant thunder renders an exquisite circular detail which then trails off until silence at the bottom.

AMORE TABLE

Diego Fortunato also reveals the beauty of the spoken word itself by recording the soundwave of the Italian word for love, amore, for the richly articulated AMORE TABLE.  No two voices or even uttering would ever produce the same finished piece, making each an extraordinarily unique furniture item.  Made from lathe turned and CNC solid wood by artisans in Spain, the table is finished by hand, in ten layers of carefully crafted lacquer.

MILLENNIUM COLLECTION is a series of furniture pieces that reveals the inherent beauty of both physics and abstraction.   The unique engineering of a single line, that never crosses, as it winds in an angular infinity abstract, is a feat of physics.   The material of mirror polished stainless steel tube transforms all elements in its site lines into a luminous black and white abstract.   Additionally MILLENNIUM TABLE draws an elegant and modern interpretation of a classical motif in the history of art, the reclining nude.   Two adjacent points touching the ground represent a figure leaning back on their elbows, while the crossed lines infer the crossed legs of a figure in repose.           

THE CUT COLLECTION

The mystery, poetry and light of cut gemstones.  THE CUT COLLECTION is an homage to the art of jewel cuts and their geometries that render a mere stone with otherworldly luminosity.  A photographer for 30 years, James Wilkins has brings this sensibility to furniture.  Photography - study of (graphy) - light (photon).   Having created a unique process of exposure and development of film that rendered subjects with a brilliant moonlight glow, coming out of darkness.  He has now turned the same study of light toward sculptural furniture.  The CUT COLLECTION capitalizes on two primary subjects of light and geometry.  The BRILLIANT CUT TABLE, and MARQUIS TABLE create large scale sculpted abstractions of cut diamonds, sapphires and tourmalines.   The INCIDENT lighting collection studies refraction and angle of incidence. Other pieces in the collection include TRILOGY STOOL a solid marble piece and CROWN STOOL and PAVILION STOOL of solid hardwood all of which transform the geometry of gem cuts into ergonomically sculpted furniture pieces.
